PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately identify the kind of money even at the time of many kinds of coins by combining plural sensors so as to detect plural detection areas. ;SOLUTION: A front row detection part 14 disposes a first detection sensor S1 provided with one long central detection area 14a in the carrying width direction of a paper money carrying path 13 so that this sensor S1 first detects money kind information of the paper money 12 guided here. Linked with this money kind information, a rear row detection part 15 disposes second to fourth detection sensors S2 to S4 with both-sides detection areas 15a and 15b individually detecting both sides of the carrying width direction of the paper money carrying path 13 to use the sensors S2 to S4 as exclusive detection exclusively detecting the three money kinds of a 1,000-yen note, a 5,000-yen note and a 10,000-yen note a paper money input/output device allows to handle by their outlines and colors to detect the truth/falseness information of paper money. The money kind is identified by the first detection part 14 like this and the detection part 15 continually specifies one sensor corresponding to the discriminated money kind for detecting operation and decides the truth/falseness of the paper money based on both of these detection data.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
