MACHINE TOOL HAVING MACHINING TOOL BREAKAGE DETECTING FUNCTION AND MACHINING TOOL BREAKAGE DETECTING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform accurate detection of breakage of a machining tool and to prevent the occurrence of a fear of malfunction occurring. ;SOLUTION: A machine tool having a machining tool breakage detecting function comprises a machining tool 3 to machine a work 1; a tapping unit 5 serving as a feed means to to be driven for the relative feed of the machining tool 3 to the work 1, and a servo motor 7; a touch sensor circuit 9 to detect a contact/non-contact state between the machining tool 3 and the work 1; and a control means 11 to input an output from the touch sensor circuit 9. The control means 11 is formed in such a manner to detect a feed position by a feed means at a present point of time. This constitution decides the occurrence of breakage of the machining tool 3 from the change of a feed position when a contact/non-contact state between the machining tool 3 and the work 1 transits.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
