PURPOSE: To improve ignitability of a high fuel ratio coal and also heat efficiency and the performance of a desulfurizing device. ;CONSTITUTION: In a pulverized coal combustion system having a pulverized coal device 4, a boiler 9 for burning pulverized coal and a flue 19 for guiding a combustion exhaust gas to a stack 27, coal 1 before supplied to the pulverized coal device 4 is brought into contact with the combustion exhaust gas 18 to dry with a coal drier 3. The combustion exhaust gas for drying is introduced to the coal drier 3 from a flue 19 on the upstream and downstream sides of an air heater 14 and the combustion exhaust gas after dried is released into the flue 19 between a heat exchanger 20 and a desulfurizing device 21. Therefore, the pulverized coal dried can be supplied and no moisture is contained in coal in the primary air for conveying the pulverized coal, thereby improving the ignitability of the pulverized coal as well as heat efficiency of the boiler. The temperature of the combustion exhaust gas flowing into the sulfurizing device lowers, thereby achieving a higher desulfurization efficiency.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
