PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To draw a linkage map of plants in Panicum which can select good lines having specific characters at its seedling stage by analyzing the DNA fragment of Panicum plants using, as a probe, a DNA which can detect a restriction fragment length polymorphism and is prepared from a Panicum plant. ;SOLUTION: DNAs are extracted from at least 3 kinds of plants, the A line in Panicum, the B line in Panicum and a hybrid therefrom, digested with restriction enzymes to prepare a fragmented DNA. This DNA is subjected to the analysis on the restriction fragment length polymorphism using a genome DNA or cDNA prepared from a plant in Panicum as a probe to select the DNA which can detect the polymorphism relating to the A line and the B line from this probe DNA. The selected DNA is digested with a restriction enzyme obtained from the inbred progeny of the hybrid used above and the fragmented DNA is subjected to the analysis on the restriction enzyme length polymorphism using the DNA selected above as a probe. The positions on the chromosome of the hybridizing site of individual probe DNAs are decided, thus drawing a linkage map of Panicum plants.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
