PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the decomposition of cation exchange resin in the presence of hydrogen peroxide of trace low concentration by using a mixed bed of gel type strong acid cation exchange resin and strong basic anion exchange resin of specific amount of moisture carrying capacity. SOLUTION: Condensate is supplied to a prefilter 12 from a condenser 1 by a pump 9 in an up flow manner. The output liquid from the filter 12 is supplied to a desalting unit 3, and treated by ion exchange resin. Since clad which becomes a problem in the condensate desalting apparatus of a BWR nuclear power plant has a particle size of 0.4 micron or more or typically about 0.4 to 10 microns, a hollow yarn membrane filter having a pore size of 0.1 micron, a pleat filter having a mesh of 3 micron or a precoating filter precoated with fine particle-like ion exchange resin is suitable. The condensate is filtered by the filter 12, the filtrate is treated by an ion exchange resin tower using a mixed bed of gel type cation exchange resin and anion exchange resin of 43 to 30% (37 to 41% is optimum) of moisture holding capacity.
