PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To balance the weight of a support body stabilized through a simple formation at the time of machining and nonmachining, and to prevent overload to the elevating means of the support body, and moreover to carry out weight balance by a means for light weight, and thus to obtain the smooth actuation of a moving body. ;SOLUTION: In a stone grinding and polishing machine composed of a moving body 3 attached laterally movably; a support body 6 provided elevatably hangingly on the moving body 3 through a weight adjusting means 4 and an elevating means 5; and a grinding wheel body 8 which is attached to the support body 6 and made rotatable by a driving means 7, the machine has a linkage rope 19 which is connected to the moving body 3 and the support body 6 and meanderingly stretched by a fixed and a movable bypassing member 20, 21 and a weight adjusting means 4 for elevating the support body 6 through a working means 22 actuated by an air cylinder, and the grinding wheel body 8 is elevated by prescribedly moving the support body 6 through the elevating means 5 for carrying out grinding and polishing.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
