PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove a harmful matter stably, without heat produced, safely and surely even in a reductive atmosphere by using an oxide of iron and manganese expressed by a specified formula of a reaction main component in a harmful matter removing agent for an organometallic compd. incorporated in gas. ;SOLUTION: In the harmful matter removing agent removing effectively the harmful matter in the organometallic compd., the oxides of the iron an the manganese expressed by a general formula: pMnOx.qFeOy (In the formula. (p), (q), (x) and (y) are real number within a range of 1.5≤x≤2, 1≤y≤1.5 and 0.25≤p/q≤4 respectively.) are used as the reaction main component. A substantially amorphous matter is used as the oxides of the iron and the manganese. At the time of executing, the removing of the harmful matter is executed by allowing the gas containing the organometallic compd. as a harmful component to come into contact with the harmful matter removing agent, then allowing the gas to come into contact with the harmful matter removing agent containing copper hydroxide as the reaction maincomponent.
