PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact desk-size scanning device for a stack of PSL cassettes to be scanned. ;SOLUTION: A scanning device is provided with a transporter to cassettes 33 through a scanning and eliminating station. The transporter has a scanning carriage 31, a carriage carrier 63 on the top of the carriage 31 near the front end an endless belt 26 with the upper end running through a groove on the top of the carriage 31, a belt carrier means 60 for the endless belt 26, a joining mechanism to join the upper end of the belt 26 to the carriage and a control means to control the operation of the jointing mechanism.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
