PURPOSE: To produce an α-olefin polymer with few fisheyes continuously for a long time by separating the polymer from the reaction solvent by introducing a slurry containing the polymer and the solvent into a fluidized-bed drier and adding a deactivator for the polymerization catalyst to the fluidized slurry. ;CONSTITUTION: A process for producing an α-olefin polymer by a slurry polymerization process using a polymerization catalyst containing a transition metal compound and an organometallic compound, which comprises introducing a slurried mixture containing the polymer and the reaction solvent and discharged from the polymerizer into a fluidized-bed drier, adding a deactivator for the polymerization catalyst to the fluidized mixture, and separating the polymer from the solvent. In this process, an alcohol is used as the deactivator, and a part of the polymer withdrawn from the drier is forcedly recirculated through a bag filter communicating with the drier. An α-olefin polymer reduced in the formation of fisheyes can be produced.
