PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treatment method which can make incineration ash and molten fly ash containing harmful heavy metals harmless. ;SOLUTION: Harmful heavy metals are extracted from waste incineration ash by treating with acid or alkali to make the ash harmless. In this process, the heavy metals which migrated into liquid are caught by a chelating agent or a sulfiding agent to be converted into harmless sludge. Ash almost free from harmful heavy metals is obtained, enabling the effective utilization of the incineration ash. Molten fly ash is almost liquefied and dissolved by the addition of acid water, and harmful heavy metals dissolved in liquid are caught by a chelating agent or a sulfiding agent.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
