PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To synthesize dicyclohexylcarbodiimide(DCC) having high purity by using cyclohexy isocyanate(CHI) as a raw material and a compound of Ti(OR)4 or a mixture of the compounds as a catalyst. ;SOLUTION: This compound is produced by the decarboxylation reaction of cyclohexyl isocyanate(CHI) in the presence of 0.1-10wt.% (based on CHI) of a compound of formula Ti(OR)4 (R is a ≤10C aliphatic, alicyclic or aromatic group) at 100-170°C for 3-15hr. The obtained dicyclohexylcarbodiimide(DCC) containing residual Ti(OR)4 is incorporated with water or a high-boiling alcohol and reacted at 0-100°C for 1-3hr to decompose the Ti(OR)4. DCC is separated is purified state by distilling the reaction product. The decomposition reaction of Ti(OR)4 is preferably carried out at 10-60°C for 1-3hr.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
