COLUMN-TO-BEAM JOINT OF RECTANGULAR STEEL-PIPE COLUMN AND ITS MANUFACTURE

PURPOSE: To reduce the working man-hours by forming a joint rectangular steel-pipe column through the hot rolling of a thick-walled seamless steel pipe, and attaching beams to the joint rectangular steel-pipe column. ;CONSTITUTION: A thick-walled joint rectangular steel-pipe column 3 is formed by hot rolling of a thick-walled seamless steel pipe, and beams 21, 22 of different heights are attached to the rectangular steel-pipe column 3. The outer-surface roundness of the joint rectangular steel-pipe column 3 at each off our corners is made to coincide with the outer-surface roundness of each of vertically connected upper 1 and lower 2 columns at each of four corners, and the junctions of the rectangular steel-pipe column 3 and the upper and lower columns 1, 2 are welded by use of backing strips 4 at female beveling. Therefore, a column- to-beam joint that is inexpensive and has high strength can be formed at the coupling portion with the upper and lower columns without formation of steps and unevenness.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
