SMDS TRANSMISSION LINE TEST EQUIPMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To conduct the test of a switched multi-megabit data service(SMDS) transmission line in the interior of an asynchronous transfer mode exchange capable of exchange with ATM switches in a short time with a simple method without installing a test equipment or the like and without imposing load onto the maintenance personnel. ;SOLUTION: An SMDS data exchange 4 is provided with a test cell interface 40 capable of input/output of a test cell and a controller 5 of the ATM exchange is provided with a means to generate information of a test cell including destination information to designate an object transmission line. Then the SMDS data exchange 4 generates a test call, based on cell information from the controller 5, inserts the cell from a test block start end of the SMDS transmission line and extracts the test cell from an end of the test block, informs the extracted test cell to the controller 5, in which the cell is checked thereby confirming the normality of the SMDS transmission line.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
