AGENT FOR REMOVING BLUE-GREEN ALGA AND LICHEN AND REMOVAL OF BLUE-GREEN ALGA AND LICHEN FROM CONCRETE ARTICLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a blue-green alga and lichen-removing agent containing a specific acid and a solvent therefor, or further an algaecide and an antifungal agent as active ingredients, capable of being used for various kinds of articles to be treated, and capable of inhibiting the growth of the blue-green algae and the lichens for their killing. SOLUTION: This agent for removing the blue-green algae and the lichens contains the combination of usnic acid and a solvent for the usnic acid. The solvent for the usnic acid includes the alkylene oxide adducts of lower alcohols, ethyl acetate, and furfural alcohol. The agent may further contain an algaecide such as irgarol and an antifungal agent such as marineside. The blue-green alga and lichen-removing agent is applied to the surface of a concrete article by a method such as a coating method, an atomizing method or a spraying method. Therein, the blue-green alga and lichen growth-controlling force of the usnic acrid is utilized to kill the blue-green algae and the lichens, thus permitting to remove the blue-green algae and the lichens from the surface of the concrete article.
