FINE POWDER COMPOSITION FOR MAGNESIA-GRAPHITE BASED CASTABLE, ITS PRODUCTION AND MAGNESIA-GRAPHITE BASED CASTABLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain fine powder composition simultaneously improved in hydrophobic property of carbon (graphite) and slaking property of magnesia fine powder. ;SOLUTION: This fine powder composition for MgO-C based castable comprises graphite fine powder having ≤100μm particle diameter and magnesia fine powder. The composition is obtained by bonding surface-treated magnesia fine powder modified by hydration-preventing treatment and having ≤20μm particle diameter onto the surface of graphite fine powder or bonding magnesia fine powder having ≤20μm particle diameter onto the surface of graphite fine powder and then subjecting the whole surface of the resultant graphite-magnesia- bonded particles to hydration-preventing treatment.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
