PURPOSE: To provide an apparatus for retaining the freshness and cutting ethylene for cut flowers capable of suppressing the proliferation of bacteria in water for arranging cut flowers by using a device for removing ethylene enabling the death of the bacteria in water and further remarkably reducing the makeup water. ;CONSTITUTION: This device 6 for removing ethylene is formed by installing a water sprinkling means 61 in the upper part in the interior of a reactional chamber 22 and providing a water tank 64 in the bottom thereof. Thereby, the ethylene in air can be removed to kill bacteria in waterdrops dropped from the water sprinkling means 61. The apparatus for cutting the ethylene, retaining the freshness and circulating arranging water for cut flowers between the device 6 and a water tank 8 for the cut flowers with a pump 7 is formed by installing the device 6 for removing the ethylene together with the water tank 8 for the cut flowers in a refrigerator 100. The ethylene in air emitted from the cut flowers can be removed to kill the bacteria proliferating in the arranging water and makeup water for humidification can remarkably be reduced by connecting a humidifier installed in the refrigerator 100 with the device 6 for removing the ethylene, the water tank 8 for the cut flowers and a cooler with pipes.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
