PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dual-phase stainless steel used, e.g. for barrel material for suction roll for paper making, having superior corrosion resistance, toughness, corrosion fatigue strength, etc., and excellent in drilling property. ;SOLUTION: This dual-phase stainless steel has a composition which consists of ≤0.04% C, 0.2-2.0% Si, 0.2-2.0% Mn, 21.0-23.0% Cr, 3.5-4.7% Ni, 1.5-2.5% Mo, 0.1-1.0% Cu, 0.06-0.095% N, and the balance essentially Fe and in which (Cr equivalent)/(Ni equivalent) is regulated to 2.0-2.3.
