PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To offer a method for evaluating a micro-defect in an electrophotographic image forming member, with which it is possible to distin guish a photo-sensitive substance where a point with insufficient electric charge (micro-defect) is not likely to be generated. ;SOLUTION: Either the increment of electrid charges exceeding the electrostatic capacitance or the voltage decrement under the electrostatic capacitance is measured for a known image forming member and an image forming member which has not yet been used, and the electric charge increment exceeding the electrostatic capacitance or the voltage decrement under the electrostatic capacitance is compared between the known and unused image forming members, and thereupon a micro-defect in an electrophotographic image forming member is evaluated.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
