PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a learner to easily imitate a copy and eventually to rapidly learn the model forms of the characters displayed by the copy by writing the copy on a desk pad for calligraphy in such a manner that the forms of the characters of the copy are visible through common Japanese writing paper from under the paper. ;SOLUTION: The common Japanese writing paper is superposed on the desk pad for calligraphy of the white ground written with the forms of the characters of the copy with black or the desk pad for calligraphy of the black ground written with the forms of the characters of the copy with white. The lever makes training by tracing the forms of the characters of the copy appearing through the common Japanese writing paper with a writing brush. A material which possibly has the highest water absorptivity and hardly allows Indian ink to remain on the surface is used as the material for the desk pad. In such a case, the desk pad for calligraphy has high water absorptive power and the surface of the desk pad in common use as the copy is not easily stained and allows training any times while the forms of the characters of the copy remain distinct. When the dyestuff of the Indian ink accumulates on the desk pad to the extent of obscuring the contours of the forms of the characters of the copy by long-term use, the dyestuff of the Indian ink accumulated on the desk pad is removed by washing the desk pad and the contours of the forms of the characters of the copy are made distinct again. The repetitive use of the desk pad is thus possible.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
