PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To locate a fault in a phase shifter by comparing a spectral signal of a harmonic component of a Fourier transformation output being reference data when each phase shifter is entirely normal with a measured spectral signal. ;SOLUTION: A monitor antenna 3 monitors a transmission signal from a phased array antenna 1 and a monitor detector 4 detects the phase. A Fourier transformation arithmetic section 10 applies Fourier transformation to part of monitor outputs received by a CPU 7 via an A/D converter 5 and an I/O device 6. Monitor outputs when each of phase shifters P1, P2,..., PN shifts a phase of an input sequentially one by one when all the phase shifters P1, P2,..., PN are normal are Fourier-transformed and stored in a reference data memory 11 of the CPU 7 as reference data. A comparison/discrimination section 12 compares the reference data read from the reference data memory 11 with a measured spectral signal of the monitor output so as to discriminate whether or not any phase shifter is faulty.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
