DEVICE AND METHOD FOR VIDEO SEGMENT REPRODUCTION OF DIGITAL VIDEO CASSETTE RECORDER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for speedily reproducing a video segment at the variable-speed reproducing mode of a digital video cassette recorder. ;SOLUTION: The video segment reproducing method error-collect-decodes 310 reproduced synchronizing block data. Then when an error remains in the decoded synchronizing block data, the method selects synchronizing block data the frame of which is decoded but when there is no error, the method selects decoded synchronizing block data of a present frame and stores selected synchronizing block data in a memory 330. Next the method forms a segment from selected synchronizing block data. Then when data is variable-speed-reproduced 320, the method restores consecutive data between DCT blocks within synchronizing block but when data is not variable-speed-reproduced, the method restores consecutive data between DCT blocks and consecutive data between synchronizing blocks within the video segment, variable-length-decodes 350 processed data and executes IDCT next.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
