PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a test method which can determine a yield strength and a tensile strength in the circumferential direction of a steel pipe under a load of an internal pressure handily using a tensile test piece with the curvature of the steel pipe as intact. ;SOLUTION: In this test method, when a circular arc test object 1 cut out of a steel pipe is used to determine a yield strength and a tensile strength in the circumferential direction by an ordinary tester, a tub plate 2 having pin holes at both ends on the outer circumference of the circular arc test object 1 is mounted. The circumferential strength of the steel pipe is determined using a test piece made so that the straight line 5 aligning the centers of the pin holes contacts the thickness-wise center line 4 of a pipe presenting a circular arc at the center 6 of the test object while running between points 7 and 8 at both ends of a mounting part of the tub plate 2. Therefore, in the designing of a pipeline, this enables selection of the steel pipe proper to internal conditions used while using for the development of material showing a proper tension nature in the form of the steel pipe.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
