METHOD FOR INVESTIGATING FORMATION STATE OF BIOFILM IN SEWAGE PIPELINE

PURPOSE: To provide a method for investigating the formation state of biofilms in a sewage pipeline capable of well checking the formation state of the biofilms sticking to the inside surfaces of the pipeline. CONSTITUTION: A planar body 5 is disposed along the inside surface of a sewage pipeline 1. This planar body 5 formed with the biofilms 4 is taken outside from the sewage pipeline 1. The biofilms 4 of the planar body 5 are cut at a prescribed thickness and are immersed into a transparent container filled with water together with the planar body 5. The cut surface of the biofilms 4 immersed in the water is photographed by a photographic device. The average thickness of the biofilms 4 and the rugged state of the surface in contact with the sewage are investigated in accordance with the cut surface image of the photographed biofilms 4. As a result, the exact investigation of the average thickness and the rugged state of the surface in contact with the sewage is made possible while the biofilms 4 are reproduced to the state similar to the state in the sewage pipeline 1.
