PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a membrane excellent in selectivity and flux which is suitable to separate aromatic hydrocarbons from a mixture of various kinds of aromatic hydrocarbons or a mixture of aromatic hydrocarbons and nonaromatic hydrocarbons. ;SOLUTION: This membrane consists of an aromatic polyester based on the combination of aromatic diacidic chlorides and bisphenol-A type bisphenols or bisphenols completely consisting of aromatic nuclei. The membrane preferably consists of an aromatic polyester based on the combination of an aromatic diacidic chloride such as terephthaloyl chloride, isophthaloyl chloride, 5-t- butylisophthaloyl chloride, PIDA, and a bisphenol-A type bisphenol such as 4X-BPN, 4X-BPT, 4X-BPI.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
