PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a conveyor belt in which a tear can be easily detected, a method of detecting the longitudinal tear of a conveyor belt and its device by which the longitudinal tear of the conveyor belt can be surely detected even when the displacement of the conveyor belt occurs. ;SOLUTION: A plurality of transponders 20 are laid inside a conveyor belt 4 at equal intervals, antenna wires 20B, 20C led out from a transponder main body 20A are extended from one end in the direction of the width of the conveyor belt 4 to the other end and disposed there, and the transponders 20 transmits the information of a distance from the reference point of the conveyor belt 4 as an answer signal in response to a question signal from a detection unit. Therefore, when the detection unit detects the transponders 20 which do not transmit the answer signal, it is decided that the antenna wires 20B, 20C of the transponders 20 are cut off, namely, a longitudinal tear is generated in the conveyor belt 4, and the laid position (distance information) of the transponders 20 which do not respond and a message of expressing the generation of the longitudinal tear are displayed in a display part, and at the same time an information command is outputted to inform a person of the generation of the longitudinal tear.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
