PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semi-permanently usable cooling device for city water that can supply cool water simply and without any movable mechanical components that may cause a failure, at the time a small quantity of cool water for drinking or for cooking, etc., at home being required by using metallic alloys for hydrogen storage. ;SOLUTION: The method for cooling the city water using hydrogen storing alloy, in which each of hydrogen storing alloys 3 and 4 are stored in each of container parts 5 and 6 that are conducted through the connecting part 7, the container part 5 is heated by contacting warm water 1 and the other container part 6 contacts the city water 2, and after each temperature of the hydrogen storing 3 and 4 alloys are approached to the temperature of each of the warm water 1 and the city water 2, the temperature of the city water 2 that contacts the other container part 6 is cooled by cooling the container part 5 with the city water 2 replacing the warm water 1.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
