PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reeled-diameter detection apparatus for fishing reel of which error is small when the reeled diameter of a fishing line reeled on a spool is detected and which is manufactured easily. ;SOLUTION: A reflecting jig 60 is attached to an ultrasonic-sensor housing part 50. In a reference-reflection-time setting and processing operation, ultrasonic waves which are generated by an ultrasonic-wave transmitting sensor 54 reach an ultrasonic-wave receiving sensor 56 through a measuring path (measuring path length: ds) at the reflecting jig 60. The time required for this operation is designated as reference reflection time ts. In a reeled-diameter computing and processing operation and an unreeled-/reeled-line-length computing and processing operation, the generated ultrasonic waves are reflected by a fishing-line surface 52 which is reeled on a spool 24, and they reach the ultrasonic-wave receiving sensor 56. The time (t) required for this operation is measured. The distance (d) up to the fishing-line surface 52 is expressed by d=ds.(t/ts)/2. On the basis of the distance (d), the reeled diameter D of a fishing line is computed, and the reeled line length or the like of the fishing line is computed on the basis of the reeled diameter D and on the basis of the speed of rotation of the spool 24.
