PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ionically actuated polymerization apparatus composed of elements, especially a composite material, having a substantial size by forming a specified structure set in a protective compartment, specified devices and a catalyst compartment in a sealed vessel. ;SOLUTION: An irradiation compartment 3 made of reinforced concrete, an adjoining sealed vessel 3, a protective compartment having an electron generator 4 and a sealed vessel 1 are allowed to communicate with each other through a horizontal passage having a rectangular cross-section. The electron generator 4 is composed of an electronic gun 6a provided with a scanning phone 7 composed of an exit window vertically set on the axis of electron beams at its end and an accelerator 6b, and is attached to a conversion target 9 which converts electron beams into an X-radiation in a manner freely retractable irrespectively of the insertion into output beams and is situated behind the phone 7. The accelerator 6b, the phone 7, the target 9 and control units 14 and 15 are mounted on a platform 10 in the protective compartment in the direction of the irradiation compartment, and a radioactivity protection shield 16 is provided and moved by means of rollers mounted on the floor of the protective comparment.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
