PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve smaller size and lighter weight of an apparatus by a method wherein a distortion signal undergoes an A/D conversion, a peak value and a valley value of the signal are detected to determine a difference, and then, the signal is counted as frequency of occurrence in a plurality of hierarchies previously set according to the size of the difference. ;SOLUTION: A bridge circuit 11 is made up of a strain gauge 10 and resistors 12, 13 and 14. When a stabilized constant voltage V is applied by a voltage regulator element 15 between contact points P1 and P2, resistance values of the resistors 12, 13 and 14 are equalized to a resistance value of the gauge 10 under no load, and also, the potential at the contact points P3 and P4 becomes equal under no load. Outputs at the contact points P2 and P4 are supplied to a differential amplifier 16 to be turned to distortion signals, which are converted into digital from analog via an adder 18 to be processed by a CPU 20. The CPU 20 extracts a peak value and a valley value of the distortion signal and performs a rainflow processing based on a difference therebetween. Since the processing is conducted by a data sampler from the extraction of difference values to hierarchization, computation and circuits are simplified, thereby accomplishing a smaller size and a lighter weight of the apparatus as a whole.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
