PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid a shelf hanging state without reducing a combustion efficiency of solid fuel with a small degree of particle size and further to enable a superior efficient operation to be carried out by a method wherein when a raw fuel material is loaded, a weight ratio between iron source and a solid fuel is changed for every loaded charge and concurrently the charge is separately loaded into a peripheral section of a furnace and a central section of the furnace, respectively. ;SOLUTION: A vertical furnace 1 having one or more stages of air blowing ports in a height direction of the furnace at a wall surface of a shaft section is applied, a loading position can be divided in a radial direction of the furnace, and for example, a loading device 2 provided with a loading guide 3 is operated. Then, iron sources and solid fuel containing either one or more kinds of dust block ores, self-reducing ore blocks, reducing irons, cast slugs and pig irons by 80wt.% or more are loaded into the furnace from the upper section of the furnace under a normal air temperature blowing condition or an air blowing condition of temperature of 600°C or less. However, more than 2 charges are set as 1 cycle, a weight ratio of iron source/solid fuel for every charge during each of the cycles is changed and as required a degree of particle of the type and/or solid fuel is changed.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
