DATA STRUCTURE OF GEODRAPHICAL INFORMATION SYSTEM AND ITS DATA STRUCTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To speedily and accurately generate maps by uses and purposes with minimum necessary data by composing data of an arc as the border line of a map and use data added to the arc so as to generate a polygon. ;SOLUTION: A completed polygon 1 is a specific area shown on a map and polygons P1 and P2 are elements for constituting the completed polygon 1. Arcs a1 and a2 are independent data and subordinate to neither the polygon P1 nor the polygon P2, and they are used as prescribed values to generate the polygon P1 and also used as prescribed values to generate the polygon P2 as well. To set by which polygon and how the arcs as the prescribed values for generating the polygons are used, 'on' for an arc to be used and 'off' for an arc to be unused are added by the purposes by uses. Consequently, data need not be registered repeatedly and the amount of data is decreased to shorten the time needed for the data registration.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
