PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To confirm the accuracy of start timing by comparing the light emitting time of strobe illumination emitted synchronously with a timer start signal with timing operation start time. ;SOLUTION: A light emitting means 21 such is a strobe is arranged in the photographing range of a linear sensor camera 3 and a signal from the camera 3 is written in a picture memory 8 prior to the input of a timer start signal. During the writing of the signal in the memory 8, the timer start signal is inputted to a time generator 10 in a recording part 5 simultaneously with the start of a meet and an internal timer is driven to start timing. Simultaneously with the start of timing, an emitter 21 is emitted and the picture from the camera 3 is written in the memory 8 together with the time information. The picture written in the memory 8 is scanned and converted and the processed picture is displayed on a video monitor 14. The emitting time of the emitter 21 is compared with the timing operation start time based upon the displayed picture to confirm the accuracy of start timing.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
