PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a novel low-viscosity organosilicone resin having a specified structure and being useful as a personal care product or a cosmetic formulation, especially, a hair care formulation which can give improved luster, volume feeling, curl set, etc., to the hair. ;SOLUTION: The objective resin has a structure of formula I [wherein R¹ and R² are each phenyl or a 1-12C alkyl; M¹ and M² are each phenyl, phenethyl, a polyether group or the like; and x, y, and z satisfy 0.5≤(x+y)/z≤4, provided that z is 1-30, and x and y are each 0 or a positive number]. This resin is obtained, for example, by reacting hydrosilylating a compound of formula II, prepared by reacting an alkyl silicate with a dialkylhalosilane with a compound of the formula: H₂C=CH-(CH₂)_wCH₃ (wherein w is 0-20) in the presence of a platinum catalyst. The compound of formula II is exemplified by hydridomethylsiloxysilicate obtained from ethyl silicate and dimethylchlorosilyl hydride.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
