PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate orientation operation of a polarization hold face of a polarizing held-type optical fiber. ;SOLUTION: Horizontal illuminations 20 and 21 of a fiber 2 to be fixed is performed, then orientation of a polarization holding face 14 of this fiber 2 is guided by means of direct inspection of internal elements 10 and 12 of this fiber 2 visualized by means of these illuminations 20 and 21.
