PURPOSE: To prevent an overlay from undulating or getting out of alignment by providing elongated loops for accommodating connecting rods so as to permit pitch control when the overlay advances curvedly along a sprocket or a rotating part. ;CONSTITUTION: A spiral overlay 10 is composed of wire spirals intermeshed together by connecting rods 14 extending across a conveyor, and the ends of the connecting rods 14 are connected by connecting links 20 for pivotally connecting the adjacent rods. The wire spirals 26 include elongated loops 32', 32" engaged with the connecting rods 14 of the conveyor between the opposed connected curve parts traversing the wire spirals 26. The loops 32', 32" accommodate the connecting rods 14 so as to permit pitch control when the overlay 10 advances curvedly along a sprocket or a rotating part.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
