HIGH-SPEED REPETITION OPTICAL PULSE TRAIN GENERATOR AND GENERATION OF HIGH-SPEED REPETITION OPTICAL PULSE TRAIN

摘要

PURPOSE: To obtain a high-speed repetition optical pulse train generator, which can oscillate stably an optical pulse train of a repetition frequency higher than the reference frequency of an oscillator. ;CONSTITUTION: The reference frequency f/n of an oscillator 10 is set in 1/the integer (n) of the revolution frequency (f) of a slave laser 14. When a master laser 12 is modulated in this reference frequency, the laser 12 outputs a master optical pulse train containing the frequency component of the repetition frequency f/n in addition to the reference frequency of the frequency f/n. Then, this master optical pulse train is inputted in the laser 14 which is a mode-locked semiconductor laser. The laser 14 outputs an output optical pulse train, which responds strongly only to the frequency (f) and the frequency component of the frequency (f) in a resonance state, owing to its frequency response characteristics.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
