PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain a telephone system capable of easing the burden of easing painful waiting time for a telephone user. ;SOLUTION: A 'standby' signal which informs of reaching to the head of a queue is applied from a callee side telephone to a caller side telephone. Consequently, the caller side can execute his (or her) own affairs in an off-hook state until a stand-by signal is received, without waiting connection in a state of holding a telephone receiver to his or her ear. The stand-by signal is provided as a visible/hearable object. The stand-by signal is activated by the caller side. The stand-by signal can be ended also by the caller side to enable start of talking. In addition, 'standby enable', 'standby ready' and 'standby end' signals can be generated by depressing respective keys related to these events and a previously determined series of keys can be allocated from a key pad for a conventional telephone set.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
