PURPOSE: To realize vertical and horizontal excavation by a single device. ;CONSTITUTION: A vertical and horizontal excavating device 1 is provided with a shielding machine 7 in the inside of the outer shell 3. An excavating face 5 where the ground is excavated by the shielding machine 7 is provided at a part of the outer shell 3. The excavating mechanism 13 which is driven by the driving part 11 of the shielding machine 7, is attached at the outside of shell 3. The ground is vertically excavated while rotating the excavating mechanism 13. A peripheral wall 23 is constructed at the rear side of the vertical and horizontal excavating device 1. And a reaction girder 25 is installed at the end of peripheral wall 23. The end of shielding machine 7 is positioned to contact the reaction girder 25 to support the reaction force of vertical and horizontal excavating device 1. When a shaft reaches a specified depth, a joint 15 is removed and the shielding machine is turned to the horizontal direction. The horizontal ground is excavated through the excavating face 5 by the shielding machine 7. In this time, concrete 27 is placed in the circumference of excavating machine 13 to make the bottom plate of shaft.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
