PURPOSE:To prevent such a case that a block of high access frequency is swept out of a buffer storage, by performing the block replacement control based on a whole access distribution of a main storage. CONSTITUTION:An access frequency counter 6 is provided to totalize the access information given to a main storage 4 from a processor 1 for each block. A counter updating control circuit 5 increases the count value of the counter 6 for each access. Then, a replacement block selection control circuit 7 detects a block with which the count value of access frequency exceeds a fixed level. This selected block is replaced with the block that is stored in a buffer storage 9 and was not latest replaced with another by a block replacement control circuit 8.
