Low loss L-C drive circuit for an electrodeless high intensity discharge lamp

PURPOSE: To establish a low loss drive circuit by connecting coil turns surrounding the arc tube part of a high luminance discharge lamp with a power supply through leads with a capacitor plate interposed, and enhancing the electric and thermal conductivities of the connecting members. ;CONSTITUTION: A capacitor 14 having the first and second capacitor plates 14a and 14b is connected to an excitation coil and a coil 12 surrounding the arc tube part of a high brightness discharge lamp (HID lamp) and having coil turns whose contour is made small so as to minimize light obstruction. The capacitor plates 14a and 14b are connected to the coil turns through a pair of connecting members 22a and 22b, and also with a power supply 16 through leads 18 consisting of the first 18a and the second conductor 18b. These 14a and 14b are made of a material having good electric and thermal conductivities, for example sheet stock of copper, and the connecting parts 22a and 22b formed from A, etc., are an extension of this sheet stock of copper.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO
