PURPOSE:To reduce hull resistance by installing a stern vortex current plate on a hull outer wall in front of a propeller at the rear of a ship by way of overhanging up to the vortex center of a three-dimensional flow being generated in a stern part. CONSTITUTION:In a ship 1, a propulsion propeller 4 is attached to a rearmost end 3a of a hull outer wall 3 being situated in the low part than the water line 2 via a propeller shaft 5. In this case, a side edge 10a at the longitudinal side is formed on the stern hull outer wall 3 of the ship 1 in parallel with a hull center (m) along the full length direction of the ship 1, while there are provided a symmetrical pair of stern vortex current plate 10 formed so as to make a side edge 10b at the hull rear side accord with a rearmost end 3a of the hull outer wall 3, and mounting height to the hull outer wall 3 is set to the specified position between a shaft center position (q) of the propeller shaft 5 and an upper end position (u) of the propeller 4. Overhanding width of the current plate 10 is set to the specified length in a range of 55%-85% in propeller radius from the hull center (m).
