PURPOSE:To miniaturize a carbon dioxide gas cartridge and enable its easy handling and short-time operation by providing between a blood circuit side and a carbon dioxide gas cartridge a filter for reducing the pressure of the gas and excluding bacteria, a hole-opening pin of a seal plate, and a mechanism pushing the cartridge to the pin. CONSTITUTION:A miniature carbon dioxide gas feeder 11 mainly consists of a cylindrical receiving case 12 and a miniature carbon dioxide gas cartridge 13. The cartridge 13 is pushed to a pin 15 by a feed screw 14, and a seal plate 16 is opened by the pin 15 to release CO2 gas. The CO2 gas is decompressed through a pressure reducing filter 17 and a bacteria excluding filter 18 and then introduced into a blood circuit (including various artificial organs) through a carbon dioxide gas outlet passage 19. As a necessary amount of carbon dioxide gas is preliminarily charged in the cartridge 13 and used just before the use of the artificial organ, the device can be easily handled and operated within a short time, and such device is preferred as an emergency application.
