PURPOSE:To calculate the sailing direction of the fishing boat even when the depth of a shoal of fish is shallow by the direction where the shoal of fish and a fishing net are coincident in arrival time as the sailing direction at the intersection of a tractrix curve determined corresponding to the sailing direction of the fishing boat and the shoal of fish. CONSTITUTION:A fish shoal moving speed arithmetic part 13 calculates the moving speed of the shoal of fish according to the fish shoal position signal 118 from a sonar part 11 and a towing speed arithmetic part 14 calculates a fishing net towing speed according to a fish shoal depth signal 119 and the output of a remote detecting device 18. Further, a fish shoal moving direction detection part 16 calculates the moving direction of the shoal of fish. A fishing boat sailing direction arithmetic part 15 determines the direction where the arrival time of said fishing net and the arrival time of the shoal of fish are coincident with each other as the sailing direction of the fishing boat at the intersection of the tractrix curve determined corresponding to the sailing direction and the course of the shoal of fish indicated by the fish shoal moving direction output 164.
