A nucleotide sequence (I) encoding Phytolacca insularis antiviral protein isolated from P.i Nakai is new. Also claimed are (1) a recombinant vector pJMc511 (KCCM 10041) cont. (I); (2) an expression vector pMS12 (KCCM 10040) for P.i antiviral protein, contg. (I); (3) E. coli HB101 transformed with the expression vector of (2); (4) prepn. of P.i protein by culturing the E.coli of (3); and (5) P.i antiviral protein produced by the process of (4).
