PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of an abnormal recording and noise in a reproducing sound by switching the phase of the action mode switching signal of a signal processing correspondingly to the respective modes of a recording, a reproducing, and a post-recording while keeping the phase of a drum reference signal constant at the point of the switching between the respective modes. CONSTITUTION:The title device is equipped with a timing control means 19 to generate the drum reference signal supplied to a control means 20 to control the rotation of a rotary drum 1 and the action mode switching signal of a signal processing means 10 to execute a coding and a decoding. Thereafter, the phase of a signal to be the reference of the signal processing part 10 to execute an error correcting and the coding is switched correspondingly to the respective modes, which are a recording mode, a reproducing mode, and a post-recording mode, while the phase of the drum reference signal is kept constant in the before and after of the switching point between the respective modes. Thus, the occurrence of the abnormal recording and the noise in the reproducing sound at the time of switching modes can be prevented.
