PURPOSE:To provide the coating liquid uniformly generating a color in a short period and used for greening outer walls, and to provide the method for coating the outer walls. CONSTITUTION:Color-generating fine algae are dispersed in the sol of a highly water-absorbing polymeric compound to prepare the coating liquid for greening outer walls. The color-generating fine algae are photosynthetic microorganisms which have a specific pigment in their bodies and which take in carbon dioxide (CO2) by their photosynthesis for the independent synthesis of nutrients. The highly water-absorbing polymeric compound may be e.g. acrylic resin or agar. When an acrylic resin is used, the powder of a resin 7 is mixed with water 3, and the produced resin gel 8 is vigorously stirred. Color-generating fine algae 1 are dispersed in the produced resin sol 9 to prepare a coating liquid, which is coated on an outer wall.
