PURPOSE: To automatically correct phase characteristics or frequency characteristics generated corresponding to a tansmitter, transmission line or receiver. ;CONSTITUTION: In the case of transmitting an orthogonally modulated signal from a transmitter 10, an equalizing pulse synchronized with the peak of the carrier is transmitted together. A receiver 12 receives the orthogonally modulated signal and detects the carrier and equalizing pulse timing. Based on the difference of the detected carrier and equalizing pulse timing, an equalizing pulse delay correction circuit 38 generates an orthogonal sampling clock and supplies it to phase detection circuits 30 and 32. An error detection circuit 40 detects the frequency characteristics by referring to data on an equalizing pulse pattern table 42 concerning the frequency characteristics of the equalizing pulse detected by an equalizing pulse timing detection circuit 36 and changes the characteristic of a digital equalizing filter 28. The output of the phase detection circuit 30 is fed back to the error detection circuit 40. The output of the phase detection circuit 32 is supplied to the error detection circuit 40 for reducing leakage.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
