PURPOSE: To obtain the subject composition comprising an organic liquid, a 1st organophilic clay capable of thickening the liquid and a 2nd specific organophilic clay differing from the 1st organic clay and having biolethal activity. CONSTITUTION: This composition comprises (A) an organic liquid, (B) a 1st organophilic clay capable of thickening the liquid A and (C) a 2nd organophilic clay differing from the clay B and having biolethal activity and also consisting of a reaction product from (i) smectite-type clay having a cation exchange capacity of about 75mm equivalent or higher per 100g clay on a 100% activity basis and (ii) an organic cation of the formula (R1 is benzyl; R2 is an 8-22C straight-chain or branched chain saturated or unsaturated alkyl; R3 and R4 are each a 1-22C straight-chain or branched-chain alkyl, benzyl, phenyl, etc.). This composition has such excellent rheological properties and biolethal activity as to be useful as a formulation for external use, esp. cosmetic use.
