PURPOSE:To fill gaps present between shutter elements on a projection surface during operation and to form a line with close dot continuity by forming parallelogram windows in shutter elements which constitute an optical shutter array. CONSTITUTION:Driving circuits 20 and 21 are operated on a time-division basis and one image dotted line is formed through the shutter operation of two shutter arrays 11A and 12A based upon image information. A time difference is matched in synchronism with the rotating speed of an image formation part, e.g. photosensitive drum. Consequently, the projection image of the one line composed on the photosensitive body by the two shutter arrays 11A and 12A has gaps between dots filled although there are the physical gaps between shutter elements without fail, so that the line is smooth and close in dot continuity.
