An orally administrable pharmaceutical dosage form for selectively administering the drug to the intestine, comprising a plurality of drug granules contained within the capsule. Granules and capsules are coated with the same or different enteric coating material which dissolves in the intestine. Preferably, the enteric coated capsule releases the granules into the small intestine, and the granules preferably comprise a coating that remains substantially intact until the granules reach at least the ileum. Thereafter, the dosage form provides for delayed release drugs into the colon. Suitable coating materials are selected from the group consisting of polymers of acrylic or methacrylic acid and their esters of the Eudragit type. The drug is typically a potent drug, such as topically active steroids, bismuth salts and complexes, and in particular 5-aminosalicylic acid.ŕ
